ok the real deal about importing skylines read!

ok first off most of my family in japan ownes skylines and i have many hook ups with major performance shops in japan so i know what im talken about.

ok first average prices for skylines in japan in us money these prices are based upon low mile good condition cars, but prices can verry 5-10 thousand depending on miles and condition. ow yeah and r32's are more epensive than r33's because in japan they like the square style more.

R32 $30,000
R33 $20,000
R34 $40,000

shipping is about $2,200 and leagizing cost about $6,000 if you do it your self, but can cost up to $25,000 professionaly.

now once you buy the car it will cost between $30,000-$40,000 to do a 1000+ bhp conversion, its about $10,000 every 250-300 bhp. i would recomend having it done in japan like i am but not every one has my connections, and theres the issue of getting it smog leagal.

I can and am importing a skyline for myself and will do it for others but i dont have the time to so ull have to make it worth my wild to do it for you.

Thanks for the info.

Are you going through MotoRex? If not, please let me know who will be legalizing the vehicle for you.

Plus, how do you legalize yourself for $6,000?

Thanks in advance.

no im not going threw motorex. im going to do it myself or i know a guy who works for a company like motorex in LA and he'll do it for me at cost. but one the reasons motorex charges so much to legalize skylines is because time is money and they spend alot of time doing it. they make frequent trips to the dmv and have to get the car smog legal which takes time and it wont always smog the first time so it gets expensive. but you can save alot of money by filling out all the paper work, doing the reasearch, and spending the time to leagalize it. you can do ityour self at a cost of 6k but it can go as high as 10k if not every thing goes right. befor you had to register it as a "kit car" but since you dont need the crash test data any more since its been safety aproved by the goverment as stated in an earlyer post on here

ok first off you dont need to be an ass. and may i ask you if you have a skyline or are getting? and if you do did you buy it threw motorex? yeh thats what i thought so sit down and shut the fuck up! im trying to help people get their own skylines with out buying it from some over priced importer. and dont talk shit when you dont know that my dad was born in japan and exports car parts and cars to speed shops in japan. so please dont insult me with out knowing what your talking about. now for the r35 thing i was on motorex and saw that they said that no new cars are avalible as of right now since only a test run of 100 were released in japan and they sold out the first day. and sky lines are comming late 03 earliy 04 here under the infinity name and arnt just prototypes. they actually have a final version of the car but its not in production yet to come here. and im going to double check the motorex info. because when i saw it late last night it was news to me . but dont bite my head off, im just trying to pass along info. and i erased it so i wouldnt have to deal with your bull shit.

Ok, all semantics aside let me say this.

If you are not an RI, I say agian, if you are not an RI. You cannot have a street legal car (VCP# or not) if you want to complience it yourself. The reason is that you have to know exactialy what must be done to the car to get it in complience, and you must have crash test data. Now we all know alot of things that need to be done, bumpers, seatbelts, mirrors, cluster all that good stuff. But there is tons of other obscure stuff that we have no idea about. And it's not like a game of trial and error were you submit the forms and they inspect that car and say, "Ohh you need to fix this and this and this" It's more like, "Sorry, this car is not in complience and it's been in the country for more then X days, we are now going to sieze it and crush it" I'm not sure if it's that severe or not, but I do know that they will not hesitate to crush your car. As far as the kit car things goes, I've seen it bantered around for ever and ever, and the consensus is that in theory it sounds good, but in real life, the guys at customs are going to tell you that they arn't idiots and they know whats going on and will find some little reason why you can't do it.

All that aside, let's say this. The LX always outperforms other mustangs of the same power because it's lighter, back when the 5.0 LXs were comming out, they were at the top of the mustang food chain.

Also, "Skylines" arn't comming out in 03 and 04, the Skyline Coupe has already come out, V35. The GTR is going to be the name of the performance car comming out in 04.

Now those of us that have been here for a while( and no, that is not a Newbie vs. Old School comment) have seen all sorts of posts of complete bullshit of people who have their facts all twisted around and we have seen the next guy who doesn't know much about the subject and is trying to learn lap it all up like it was the truth.

Ok, I don't see how you can possibly just do an engine swap and call it a kit car. Perhaps if you stripped it down to the frame THEN it could be a kit car. But if what your saying was the case I could buy the Jun Supra with the RB26DETT in it and bring it over as a kit car, no friggin way.

Btw, I'm not trying to start a war here either, I'm just dissagreeing.
