95 jetta transmission shift problems

hi , i have a 95 jetta and has automatic transmission with some problems , i replaced the transmission couse the 1st one does't had reverse ( like neutral) , i bought one from the junk yard and swap it , now the car doesn't have 3rd gear and 4th it start in 2nd gear ( or 3rd , i'm not sure) and still in 2nd all the time , if i shift to 1st gear it change to 1st then i shift to 2nd and change but if i move it to 3rd or "d" nothing happen , it still in 2nd gear ... i f press the gas the gears doesn't come down ..... now have reverse but with this new problem .... do you have any idea how to fix it? can i fix it w/o take off the transmission?
