new tundra

I just purchased a new double cab tundra. I looked at the extended warranty that was for a period of 5yrs, 60,000 miles. It cost $1,100 with a $50 deductible. Is this worth it or should I take a chance without it? I have heard that the toyota tundra is an excellent vechile with very little maintance. I have had toyotas in the 90's and did not have any trouble. I sold one with 130,000 miles on it and only had to change the starter. I still see on the road today. It was a 1988 small pickup. I regret selling that truck.

Re: new tundra

IMO, you will do better by putting that money into a stock fund or treasury bonds and using it if you ever need to. The odds are that you will never need to use that money for anything significant on your truck.

Don't forget, on the average, the company providing that insurance will never loose money. So you will be the one loosing money (on the average) since you are the only one paying for the coverage.

Good luck with your new truck.

Re: new tundra

Buying a warrenty is like buying life insurance. You buy it, in hopes to never need it, but you will be glad you have it, if you need it.
