What is the difference between the revell-germany kits in the more flat box and the regualr revell kits in the more square box. i see that revell-germany kits are more expensive, do they have more detial? better quality?

There's really no correct answer; some Revell Germany kits aren't made by them, and if it's the same model that's available in a Revell USA box they're generally the exact same model. In that case don't spend the extra $ on a Revell Germany kit if you can find the same subject in the US box. Case in point, I saw Revell Germany's Ferrari 612 Scaglietti at Hobby Lobby in both the flat box and the US box w/the red model on the cover. They're the same kit. Sometimes Revell Germany issues models from other manufacturers in the flat boxes, and these aren't in the Revell US lineup. If you don't know about a particular kit, ask here first before dropping $$ on a model and finding out later you could have gotten the same one cheaper.

As a rule of thumb, US cars kits sold by ROG come from Revell USA. Ferrari kits are designed by ROG. ROG produced several Japanese kits using Fujimi and Hasegawa molds. Most of Porsche and classic Ferrari models are made in cooperation with Italeri. Prepainted kits are shared with Dragon (do not know who developed the molds, ROG or Dragon). I am not sure who developed the concept/dream car series (Mythos/Bugatti EB 110/ BMW NAZCA), but I guess it is ROG design. The Premium line (except Porsche) is made in Germany. There are exceptions of course of the above rules. Surprisingly, the recent common models betewen Fujimi and ROG are developed separately (very clever way to reduce the costs).

So as said in the other posting, check before you pay.

I meant why on earth would two different company develop tools for the same model? Wouldn't it have been better to make tools for kits of two different cars?
