Question Re: intermediatetly working ignition

Frankly the way you stated your question makes it incomprehensive, you may know what you mean but I don't.

Re: intermediatetly working ignition

i think he was saying he turns the key the first time and nothing happens at all. and then when he turns it again his car starts. my question is does it do anything like TRY to turn over or is there just silence.

is there even a click?

O and if it gets to the point that you need to hot-wire your own car you may just want to get a new ignition or something.

VATS.. i dunno wat it is. I'm guessing its a security thing, alarm maybe?

Re: intermediatetly working ignition

Are the gauges on a 1990 Olds Delta 88 different than that? Mine looks like that, but goes up to 140mph...and she goes past that no problem, lol. I always wondered how it had better acceleration than moms new GT... (well, she did till I let her sit for a year and a half...now it won't start, but thats in another thread...) Maybe the guy that had it before me did some work on it...I'll have to check...

Lets back up here, your 90 88 goes over 140 mph, I don't think so! I'd check on what has been " done" here.

Re: intermediatetly working ignition

I thought something was different about the car, lol. I just assumed it was cause of the whole "age of big engines" thing...now I have even more motivation to fix her up and find out what was all done to it. :-) (yeah...I'm feeling stupid I didn't notice something was odd before...I only drove it a few times before I had to park it...) I'll update once I find out a few things.

Re: intermediatetly working ignition

VATS... the key system for Security that will not allow a car to continue to run with fuel pulses. The car will however prime the engine anyway. A car with a bad VATS will start and quickly die in the driveway or close.

Ignition Relay problems if you cannot get the starter to crank. Either Ignition switch or relay circuit problems. Hearing clicks is important in diagnosing this problem.

Good LUck
