Battery died-now no radio

The lights were left on in my 2002 Taurus. It was jump started and now the radio doesnt work. There is nothing displayed on the radio at all. This is the only thing I can find that doesnt work.I checked fuse #27 and it appears ok.as nothing else appears to not be working.Any help would be appreciated. Also if it makes any difference it has the 6 cd changer option

Re: Battery died-now no radio

hummm some newer cars have to reset a radio code if you have power failer. Look in your owners manuel or call ford. if thats it youll need the code . . it should be in the owners mauel . . .if its not there youll have to beg the dealer to give it to you or pay him $$$

Re: Battery died-now no radio

ford original radios don't have radio codes

Ck the fuses in the battery junction box fuses f101 (60A) f107 (40A) f117(20A) and f124 (5A)

Let me Know what you find becase if it is more than a fuse the diagnostic is lengthy but my system shows to ck thouse fuses first

Re: Battery died-now no radio

Some factory (and most aftermarket) decks have a fuse on the rear of the deck, near the connectors. I haven't had the radio out of a 2002 to know if it has a fuse on the headunit, but it may be worth checking.

Were the jumper cables hooked up properly, or is there a chance they may have temporarily shorted or been connected with reverse polarity even momentarily? A regular jump start should not cause a fuse to blow. However, if you attempted to start the car with a VERY dead battery with the radio on, the fuse rating may have been exceeded due to the radio power requirements, and that could have caused the fuse to blow....

I assume you did attempt to power on the radio (although I think the clock would normally be displayed, even with the radio off).

Re: Battery died-now no radio

On my 2003 Taurus when nothing on the radio (no 6 cd changer) would work it was because a rodent had eaten the wires in the trunk where the "radio" really is, hidden in the trunk on the left outer wall.

Re: Battery died-now no radio

All it took was to unhook the ground from the battery for 10 sec.Doesnt make sense as the battery was dead but glad it worked.
