Re: wheel bearings

If you are lucky after removing the three hub bolts the hub may come right off. Service manual suggests using a hub puller. I've had good luck using the old axle nut. Just install on the end of the spindle and gently tap with a hammer and the axle shaft will pop off or separate from the hub/bearing.

Important part is to properly torque the new hub to proper specs and the axle nut. Axle nut is 151 ft-lbs if OEM/AC Delco type or follow manufacturer's torque spec provided on the data sheet.

Re: wheel bearings

I hate changing wheel bearings. They say for the 97-03 w-body GP's you have to replace the whole hub and they are expensive. I actually need to replace one of mine too, does anyone know where i can get one for a 2003 GTP cheaper than $159.99...thats the cheapest i could find one....

$160 is a good price for a good one. I replaced 3 in my 02 GT,I tried to save some $$ because I need both front hubs,so I went to advance auto and got the cheepies $95 apiece, Well the old saying is true you get what you pay for, 10,000 miles later I'm replacing them again. Do yourself a favor and get good ones like Timkin, cost alot more but they should last as long as you own the car

Re: wheel bearings

I got mine through car parts warehouse for around $90 each. they have been on there almost a year and no problems. I did not tourque them the way I needed to though. I do not have a torque wrench that goes up that high.
