Thumbs up finally got my civic w/b-20 swap

yes the long awaited date for me. A month and a half later(after they said it would only take a couple of days) i have my baby back just in time for my b-day.

the torque: i love it, the b-20 really pulls hard all the way from 2000 to 7000 rpms. i have the passing power at the tip of my toes. dont even need to floor it. i would recommend a b-20 to anyone that wants power. i cant wait till my vtec head.

the only problem i came accross was a grinding noise coming from under the engine. its the pully. it is too low and is grinding againts the sway bar when i hit little bumps. i took it to them and they said they would put spacers on the mounts on mon. hopefully that fixes it. A b-16 tranny goes great with this engine.

so overall i love the power of the b-20 would pick it over b-16 any day.

Cool stuff man!

Just remember to take it easy on the engine for the first 500 miles or so. Need to break it in a bit.

the engine is out of a CR-V, i dont know the specs on it though...but it would have to be strong to propel a suv.....

What head are you putting on, the b16? I heard that ups hp to over 200 without anyother mods, and am just curious to know if its true.

If built properly the CrVTEC swap as it is known will produce impressive numbers. Those numbers depend on what pistons, head, and cams are used. Check out www.importbuilders.com for some nice CrVTEC engines.

dude are u sure about that?????

i've driven both b-16 and gsr and you have to be at high rpm's to really feel it kick in in both engines. the b-20 will respond at 2000 if not lower. and a b-20 in a older civic will beat b-16 and gsr all day dude.

HORSEPOWER SELLS..................BUT TORQUE WINS RACES!!!!!!........ BELIEVE ME

Well i'm not gonna make a big deal about this. Yes b16 is not toruquey but gsr powered rex is something different. Either way i have friend with b16 rex that beat a b20 92 vx hatchie but like 1.5 and both were stock. B20 u'll probably beat me off the line but once i'm in 3rd gear i'm already pulling away. Anyways thats why i'm looking for a gsr bare block so i can achieve into 12 sec range easier than my current block. B20 is a good swap man i like it and if i had it i would str8 turbo it!

yeah the b20 has torque down low and everything but who launches at 2 grand. when i was racing my friends b16 civic, i launched at 3 grand and 2 seconds later i was in vtec, and thats all she wrote. if you start off slowly then need to get speed, the b20 is good but if your drag racing then you launch high, hit vtec and your gone. once a b16 hits vtec, your in vtec for the rest of the race, well if your a good racer than your in vtec for the rest of the race.
