Getting remote start system for xmas :)
This will be nice as I can get in my car as it's WARM and not have to sit and wait for everything to defrost in the mornings
![]() My only thing is: Will this effect anything if I get a new PCM? I don't know how remote starts work and I don't know if they go through the PCM or not, so just checking, since I'm probably going to get that DHP PCM, and I don't want to have to get all this stuff recalibrated again if I don't have to ![]() Thanks!

remote start for a GA
interesting, guess its a good thing to have if you dont have any problems starting up I usually have to press the pedal down a little bit in most casesRemote start will have no affect for the DHP PCM ur good to go... but how much is that gonna cost??? I know their pretty spendy... u could maybeh get another performance part for the cost more than likely...

My dad decided on it. Him and my mom have one, and it would be very handy for getting to class on time, so he decided on it. It's a neat thing to have. He isn't too big into buying performance parts for me... I mean he likes the idea more than buying a new car to mod, but still, he'd rather buy me useful things than performance things... Maybe my parents bought me performance parts too... I asked for a few, don't know if they will or not though... Regardless, it's a gift he decided on that I didn't even ask for, but I definitely like it and want to have it. I just wanted to see if there were any conflicts at all because obviously I want performance as well as convenience ![]() It's around $300 for my car. I think. Including installation.

Re: Getting remote start system for xmas :)
I was going to say, Good Luck installing it!
And it does run through the pcm(passlock security) but shouldnt affect the DHP. Alot of GA owners have put this on when they had passlock troubles, and they went away. Others have had passlock troubles when they installed the remote start and never got it started. ... So good Luck with that Vipey.

Re: Getting remote start system for xmas :)
I put a remote start on my 96 3.1 grand am around 3yrs ago. It took me around 12 hrs to install had to get a module to bypass the theft lock for the key in ignition before starting module. But mine was the security system, remote start keyless entry the hole 9 yards. Hood pins, sensor on the windshield alot of time consuming things that could have been ignored. I love mine been working great ever since. Starts every time first time with a 182,000miles on it I can't complain.
