Question Friends Car Problem

It's off topic, for another car. Better here than over there tho.

96 Mecurury Mistique. New plugs and new O2.

When flooring the gas pedal, car stutters and almost dies. Sometimes does die. Plugs are gapped right. No CEL. Haven't driven it up but i will later. Going to clean air filter too (if hood opens. Latch was broken during the week). Please help. Thanks

Have you got good hot blue spark to all plugs?
What kind of plugs did you feed it?
How is the fuel filter and fuel pressure?
After market air filter?
What engine? One has tsb on a pcm flash for that problem.
Also unplug MAF sensor and see what it does.

Re: Friends Car Problem

I forgot to post the engine. It's a 4cylinder, I believe 2.0, DOHC. Automatic.

Plugs were from Autozone, I believe Bosche. We're going to try to pop the hood later on today.

Well first thing pitch the Bosch plugs in the trash can and get the right motor craft plugs the good book calls for.

The 2.0 l with a CD4E and certian calbrations need a pcm reflash for that problem.
Have you dealer run your vin no. for a update reflash.
Also go over fuel pressure and MAF sensor and check for good spark.

Re: Friends Car Problem

BOSCHE FTL...

do what he said and disconnect the MAF... if the car runs, but rough... then it will be that sensor...

try swapping in another ECU...
Has the car sat for a long time?
