EGR trouble

Can anyone tell me if a bad EGR valve can stop my 2000 Blazer from starting up? The srevice engine light has been coming on and off. A test at Autozone said bad EGR. Pep Boys told me the same. I just noticed when the vehicle got really hot (running in traffic) and then got shut off, it wouldn't kick over. It did start up again when cooled off.

Mine starts with the EGR malfunctioning, hot or cold.
You really need to get the code number then we can start.

I'm confused, does your blazer not start when cold, or does it shut down while driving and not restart?

If you're getting an EGR code, clean or replace the EGR and see what happens. Lots of posts on that subject here and in the Bravada forum, just do a search.
