Question NOT charging, new alt & batt.

I have a 97 Catera V6, the battery was running dead, so we changed the alternator & battery & it still doesn`t charge. i looked at the big fuses under the hood & they didn`t look burned.
maybe fuse links??
HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM????

Re: NOT charging, new alt & batt.

Hey man i too have a 97 catera, my prob thou was that the battery died al of a sudden, out of nowhere i go to crack it up n it doesnt work, i checked the fuses and everything checked out, i jump started it an it worked but after turning it of it wouldnt start again, i replaced the battery and it worked, it was all the battery itself ,maybe your prob lies with the battery, something might be draining it or ur belts arent working proply, hope this helps

Have you checked the alternator output with a voltmeter? An alternator or battery DOA right out of the box is not unheard of.

Re: NOT charging, new alt & batt.

ATTN: HALOFIVE......UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new batttery helped, but here a month later it died again, my brother who`s a mechanic looked at it & traced it back to a bad crimp from the factory on the pos batery cable where it goes into the batt. terminal., he cut that end off & put a new professionally crimped eyelug on the end & it charges beter than it ever has & CONSISTENTLY!! He said the cable end & terminal burned his fingers when he touched them it had so much rersistance & the connection was so bad. with the motor running, touch the battery terminals & wiggle the wire, i think that`ll be your problem. it`s FIXED!
