Dead car.

Well I did alot of things today to my car . Felt pretty good about myself, you know, getting things done.

changed oil and filter
flushed radiator out real good
changed air filter
pulled out resevoir bottle and cleaned it real good

I drove my car around a couple times for about fifteen minutes each time with no problem. Well my luck was soon to change. I go to leave to get my lunch stuff and when I put the key in the ignition the instrument lights came on as usual, but when I go to crank it...SHUT DOWN...I mean everything went dead, nothing..I tried to jump it with cables and nothing. I dont know what to do anymore. I cant even get the key out of the ignition. I also have now run out of loot. I spent it all on my new dream car a 1998 GTP thats broke down...What to do/ What to do?

Re: Dead car.

Sounds like the battery or a charging system problem. If you have an Autozone(s) where you live you can get it tested for free to include the alternator.

When the battery goes dead or bad it is normal not to be able to get the key out if the ignition because the key release solenoid is missing battery supply/12 volts.

Also, check the condition of the battery cables and terminals.

Re: Dead car.

Well, aftyer throwing a hissy fit in the front yard I walked away from my car last night. Was dark out. Today my brother-in-law must have felt sorry for me because he came over while I was at work and fixed the problem. Loose positive battery terminal.

I hope you all get a smile out of this. I would bet there are some neighbors scared of me now due to my fit. Well live and learn..... thanks for the help

Re: Dead car.

We all get frustrated while working on our own stuff. We feel your pain, and can all relate. Glad it was a simple fix.
