Re: 2003 impala 3.4 oil leak

I think its going to be your lower intake gasket. that was what was wrong with my 2000 impala 3.4 to fix plus a tune up costed me 621.94 . Mine started with a oil leak some where but never did see any oil on the ground. I had to put about a qt a month in for over a year. Had gunk in the radiator for about the same amount of time. 4 months ago I had to flush the radiator 3 times just to get all the gunk out. Then a month later the gunk was back and I had a leak of antifreeze coming from the back of the motor. Search these forums there is alot of info about intake gasket leaks it is very common problem for the 3.4 and 3.8 motors.

Re: 2003 impala 3.4 oil leak

There is an o-ring seal for the oil pump drive shaft that is a common oil leak on your engine. It is located in the center of the "v" of the block up top on the drivers side of the engine, and is basically a distributor with the top cut off. This o-ring hardens and causes oil to leak down the back of the block. It usually appears to be a rear main or oil pan leak as it drips to this area on the drivers side near where the engine and trans bolt together. The throttle body will have to be removed to gain access to change it. Fel-pro part # on the o-ring is 70800, and I also put a paper gasket #70194 as added insurance. You'll also need a throttle body gasket part# 60983 to finish the job.
