Intermittent Light flickering.
I own a 2002 Monte Carlo SS Pace car with an intermittent lighting problem. My headlights and dash lights and I'm assuming my tailights as well flicker from time to time but not on a constant basis. It doesnt matter if im on a smooth or bumpy road the problem pops up occasionally. The best way i can discribe this problem would be like when the electric cooling fans turn on when engine temperature is reached and you get the dimming of the lights on the initial turn on of the fans . The dealer told me to bring it in when it becomes more constant to make it easier to troubleshoot but for now they cannot find a problem with the lighting circuit on the car.Ive checked all the grounds to make sure they were tight and all seems good.Did anyone here have a problem with flickering lights on their Monte??

Re: Intermittent Light flickering.
Have your battery checked. My lights flickered when my battery was shot and I needed a new one.

Re: Intermittent Light flickering.
Thanks Rally sport for your response but i just replaced my battery this past Thursday at the dealer cuz my original battery started leaking battery fluid from the positive terminal...Thursday night the lights were flickering again so i suppose that it wasnt the cure but for Friday and Saturday night this past week they were fine so go figure? I'm still trying to figure out whats causing this intermittent problem with the lights! Thanks again!

Check all grounds with a volt meter and double check battery cables. And have the alternator charging system checked.

Re: Intermittent Light flickering.
Thanks MT-2500 for your reply.Dealer Tech told me all grounds were checked using meters and an alternator diagnostic was done .....all is working properly....alternator charging battery....load tests were normal...I myself rechecked the battery cables for damage and also made sure they were tight and all was well! This is a puzzeling intermittent problem where even the dealer techs cant seem to figure out why its doing this!

Re: Intermittent Light flickering.
I had a problem with my lights "pulsating," and I could never find the problem, so I lived with it. Eventually, my alternator needed to be replaced. After new alternator was in I had no problems.

Thanks dwalmop for your reply.....i will keep that in mind when i need another alternator but for now mine is working fine and it was tested at the dealer and the test report was given to me and all showed within perameters of charging and load testing so i guess ill just have to live with it for now......with my luck its probably something simple staring me right in the face?
