Gas Gauge issue

Recently took out tank and oput back for unrelated issue. The connecter on the top goes together but will not click in. But more importantly my gas guage does not work, not even the yellow no gas light, any suggestions.

Re: Gas Gauge issue

Sounds like the plug is not connecting properly. The connectors inside the plug may have slipped back and are not making contact. Check all the fuses to make sure one didn't blow. Check to make sure the wiring wasn't damaged when removing and replacing the tank. You didn't state if the guage was reading full or empty.

Re: Gas Gauge issue

Thank you very much. The fuel pump works so I am assuming ( stupid) the plug is kinda connecting. That being said I was advised that the 4Runner guage historically has issues, and may need replacing. Also my dad has a '93 P/U, his guage stopped working then started again. Checked the fuses all seems to be in order. I wil have to see if the connector, which has 2 prongs, if 1 is 4 the guage, and 1 for the pump, or what.

Re: Gas Gauge issue

BUT the KEY thing here is: "It worked until you fixed it!" Seriously the problem started after you worked in the area of the guage so DOUBLE check everthing you did I am sure you will locate the problem having to do with the recent work.

Secondly, it's the sending units that go bad, not the gauge.

Re: Gas Gauge issue

Oops I meant the area of the work which would be the sending unit area
FourWD-uno is correct.
