Exclamation 00 Blazer Headlamps problem

I'll start off by saying I'm not the most knowledgable car guy in the world but this should be pretty simple....

Had my right front headlamp out for a couple months, just never got to changing it out. So the other day, I pull out the manual, head over to Autozone and pick up the right headlamp. I even matched it with the existing one....#9006 HB4 (low beam). When I put it in, both headlamps seemed a bit bright. Sure enough, both lights are really bright. When I'm driving, BOTH lights are shining in peoples faces, hitting street signs. I went back to the store, made sure I got the right one (I did) and even bought another one just to double check it (same effect). I even switched the bulbs (put the new one on the other side and the working old one on the other) with no effect. Both headlamps are mounted back in correctly. I pulled up against a wall and both lights are even.

And no, I do not have my brights on. The brights are exactly as they should be but my low beams now look like a medium setting, if cars were to have a medium. The lights should be hitting the ground when I drive, but neither do.

What in the hell is causing this? Any ideas.

Re: 00 Blazer Headlamps problem

I would first check to make sure the bulb is inserted correctly and is fully inserted. The bulb should slip in and turn to lock with ease, if not, probably not inserted correctly. (The 3-lugs on the bulb holder are not all the same size)

The headlights might be out of adjustment – maybe turned the wrong screw when taking the headlight assembly out, or the assembly is not installed correctly.

If all else fails, try adjusting the headlights to where the low beams should be and then see how the high beams look.

Yep, they are inserted correctly. They will only go one way and both are turned the full quarter turn.

The assembly only comes out by removing two plastic locks that slide behind the assembly and hold it in place. I didn't unscrew anything in the process in order for it to be out of place.

If all else fails, try adjusting the headlights to where the low beams should be and then see how the high beams look.
Because of where the assembly locks in, it's not possible to adjust it to where the low beams should be. If I were able to do that, they would be at quite an angle.
Thanks for you suggestions though.

Well, since it wasn't that way before you replaced the bulb, it has to be something you did when replacing the bulb. Take the assembly back out and look everthing over very carefully.
