1999 Silverado "no headlights", help pls.

Pulled into drive at home and turned truck off, all was working fine. Then came back out 5 min. later and started truck everything works but no headlights incl. h-beams. Have basic manual and tested dash light switch, all fuses, pwr to headlamps ?able, both wires on L/R low beam connectors test out at 11.8vdc. DRL's do work fine as well as running Lts. and fog Lts.

Any help would be appreciated. Tks.

Not going to be much help I think. But I had a problem with my LBEC fuse blowing under the hood. I can't remember which one 1 or 2 and it was tied to my rear lights. The problem ended up being a ground located next to my parking brake. It was one of those problems that GM fixes if u bring it in. I was told people who use their parking brake all the time had the problem with ground. My truck is a 2004 1500. Hope this helps.

Found out the problem. Found two melted wires under the steering collum, they wer not bad enough to catch fire but had melted enough to deform the connector forcing the ground to the HI/LO switch to become disconnected. After some reengineering to make it safe all works fine. Ironically the headlights seem to brighter. In the process the assoc. relays, dimmer, and headlight switch all checked out good. I have a very similar problem with my 1993 Silverado 1500....no dashboard or tail lights. I've checked the fuses near the steering column and they all look ok. Is there another bank of fuses that I don't know about? (I don't have the owner's manual.)
The discussion about "grounding wires" was very confusing to me. If that's the problem, then I don't even know where to start!

I have a 2004 and there is a set of fuses under the hood next to the battery under a cover about 12 inches by 12 inches. I had the problem with the LBEC1 or LBEC2 fuse located there and it did affect my tail lights. The ground that was the culprit I never saw. But according to the dealer it was near the emergency brake pedal.

I have a 1999 Silverado and in the chilson manual it describes nothing about where the connectors are located. So I started taking the dash panels off and found a/the connector fot the dimmer/washer/cruise/turn signal above the kick panel and then above the metal support panel that is under the steering column. I also had to remove the BCM (body control module-has three connector to it) to gain enough room to work on it. On mine I found the 13 pin connector (pins 12&13) had melted causing a dis-connect therefore no ground to the headlamps. Took me about 2-3hrs. to investigate and repair.
