93 Grandam Radiator Problem
I know this is very vague, but I am hoping someone can help me. I need a car and someone is willing to give me a 93 grand am se v6, but they say there is a problem with the radiator. I have not been able to see the car myself, but they describe the problem as a crack on "a plastic piece going into the radiator." I have looked for skematics online, and can't seem to find anything on this car. I would like to know, if possible, if anyone knows what this piece that is cracked may be, and if it is possible for me to fix/replace this part.
Sorry I am so vague and rushed, but I can't say anymore until I can see it for myself. Thanks. |

Re: 93 Grandam Radiator Problem
Vaguely, it sounds like the molded in fitting that the upper/lower radiator hose clamps to. Best bet is a new radiator. Cost apprx 200U$
not a bad deal for a free car |

Re: 93 Grandam Radiator Problem
Welcome to AF IMPaulbert.
Does sound like the radiator. In the 1980's they started making the radiators out of aluminum and then the sides were black plastic. Which after years of expanding and contracting they develope cracks. You cant miss the white line where it evaporates off the plastic. Though it can be on either side of the Rad. front or back. I think You can buy an all brass replacement, that is usually cheaper and last longer IMO. If thats all thats wrong with the car and they are giving it to you thats a Deal ! Not a bad car either.
