rear wiper
I have a 99 jimmy slt 4x4 4dr and the rear wiper for some reson will only move about 12 in. and then get stuck. Any ideas
|

does it make any noise when it gets stuck, like a loud grinding noise? if it does, the internal gears of the wiper motor are worn and the motor needs to be replaced.

no it doesn't make any noise and if i lift the wiper off the glass it works just like its supoust to.(no noise,grinding or binding)

My wifes 99 Envoy did the same thing. There is a nice write up on removal in the How To section. What I did was remove motor/cover and drill through the housing and install a thin bolt with washers to hold the gears together (the problem is that there is a round compression washer holding the gears together, pops off letting the gears go nuts). If the motor works, spend an hour of your time instead of a new motor.
