Humm.. Well What i think it could be is that you may have too many lights and neon wired in the car so when they are all on the car dosen't have enough power being supplyed to the ABS brakes. No saying that the brakes wont work but I think that you are drawing enough power that the senser come on..

When you turn off your lights does the ABS light go right out? If so I think thats what the prob is..

You may want to get a more powerful Alternator if that is the case.

Hope that helped.

Well i was looking into getting a new Alternator for my 91 Z24 and to get one brand new was about $350 but do you know what would be the best be for you is to head to a Auto wrecker and just ask them if they have one because if they do.... It should only cost you around $100 and then you can just clean it up a bit ;-)

Also to make the best of both worlds.. Get a stronger and better battery than stock. Get one that has POWER ;-)

Good luck.
Have a good one,

DD

Talking ALT with more amps

I had the same problem with my 2.2L 94 5 speed and it was because my system was pulling too many amps... the cheaper alternative would be find someone that goes to school for electronic engineering and have them swipe you a cheap capicator (similar to a lightning cap but cheaper) and wire your lights through it... It'll hold enough to run your lights, the ABS comes on becasue the ABS Computer uses ALOT of power consumption and its b*tches and whines when you take more than 2 amps from it. :-)

Exclamation WAIT WAIT WAIT

Before you go and spend money for a new alternator, you need to do 2 things.

1) Relocate the neons transformer. It will cause the ABS light to come on if it is too close to the brake system.

2)If you are using StreetGlow Blue Line series, the transformers are in each tube and you might be SOL since one tube is right next to the brake lines.

I am a member of www.j-body.org and it is all about Cavs and Suns and all other JBody platform vehicles. If you have any other issues, check them out. This has been discussed there many times. Hope this helps.
