Throttle Response

Alright im new here. And i have an 89 civi 1.6. I just put a new d16a6 in my car yesterday it has 30,000 miles on it.. And it runs great everything is good but it has very poor throttle response to it.. Im thinking its the timing. But im not for sure yet, cause im going to my parents tonight to finish it up and i thought mabey somebody else may have had this problem or know what to do.. Any input would be nice
