Airbag question...

Kay, long story short. i've got a metro thats had a rough life. its going through its FOURTH totalled/rebuilt process, three of which happened before i picked it up. this last time it was hit/runned, and the guy put a nice scratch/dent all down the passenger side and knocked the mirror of. in one of the past accidents, the airbags went off, and i dont think the airbags are even in there anymore. The airbag light is always on. If i put new airbags in, will the light go off, or will i have to get it reset by the stealership? for me to get a new title it has to be inspected and the airbags have to work.

Whether or not the car has airbags ought to be a pretty yes or not type of issue? If the car does not have airbags, and the rest of the SIR (supplementary inflatable restraint) system is in tact, then yes, replacing blown (or missing?) air bags will turn your light off.

Re: Airbag question...

well, maybe normally, its pretty easy to tell. this car has the covers in, but the passenger side sounds very "hollow" and the steering wheel air bag cover is cracked. looks like it went off, they stuffed the bag back in there and glued it up. havent taken anything apart yet to see. thanks for the info!
