Dome Pistons: Pointers and Suggestions
Hello,
I am in the process of rebuilding my car (93 3.4L DOHC). I am considering domed pistons. I am wondering what kind of extra stress the motor will be under and what things might have to be changed. Also, where are some good places to purchase these pistons for my particular car. Jon S. |

Re: Dome Pistons: Pointers and Suggestions
The 3.4 DOHC is such a tight tolerance motor, you cannot put domed pistons in it. The heads have a small combustion chamber, and because of the 4-valve layout, there is no room for a domed piston as it would hit the valves.

For this particular motor, what can I do to squeeze out some more HP?

Re: Dome Pistons: Pointers and Suggestions
Unless you want to be fixing it all the time, I wouldn't bother. That engine is a tempermental, problematic beast, and eats timing belts when modded.
