95 pathy tranny problems

my 95 pathy 's power switch light blinks 16 times after i turn thje key on. i know there is a problem with the tranny, but i was hoping to see if any one knows what it may be before i get ito the dealer for repair. it periodically hard shifts down into gear as it is down shifting . ususally between 40 and 25 mph. now it has developed a small shifting lunge when going down the hwy but it's only slight. this only happens after it has shifted into the last gear. PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: 95 pathy tranny problems

Fluids and filter changed, flushed, or all of the above? The reason I ask?

Make sure the filter was changed or at least cleaned. Some say these filters don't need to be changed cause they're a steel screen. There is some truth to this, but the screens get cloged and if they don't get cleaned or replaced, they will limit the presure your tranny pump is going to output making some abnormal shifts.

I'd say it's about f*cked and you'll need a rebuild or new trans within a year or so. Try not to make any long road trips...
