Possible speed sensor?

Was driving today, van suddenly wouldn't accelerate or shift. Thought it was tranny slipping at first. Then speedometer maxed out then stopped working, van wouldn't shift out of first and idled at 3000 RPM. Then started working fine again and then same thing. Van stalled once also but restarted fine. Symptoms are speedometer not working, rpms too high won't shift out of first, symptoms are come and go. I'm thinking possible speed sensor any other ideas?

Re: Possible speed sensor?

Yup. Output speed sensor. Should cost about $25 depending on the model year. Make sure it's an OEM part. Not all but, some after market sensors are garbage.

I would imagine your service engine light came on. Not necessarily though. Check for engine fault codes with the key cycle method. You might see a code 15. Key on off then leave on at third cycle. Count blinks of service engine light on dash. Blink, pause, blink, blink is code 12. Longer pause between codes. All codes are two digits.
