94 2.3L still misses at hard acceleration

Here is what i've tried. New coils and plugs and ignition module. The new ignition module makes the engine hard to start. But the missing starts when the coolant temp reaches 220. The old module the car starts right up at the first turn of the key, but miss appeasrs when coolant temp reaches 150. could it be that I have weak valve springs. I also replaced the Crank sensor because the old one was cracked. The repair manual didn't say any thing about relearn.

Re: 94 2.3L still misses at hard acceleration

I don't know what the fuel fressure is. If it was fuel pressure it seems that it would miss cold and hot. It runs great until it reaches 150 on the temp coolant guage. It acts like it is not firing on all cyls, but the coils and the plugs and boots and the new module didn't help or improve the condition.

Re: 94 2.3L still misses at hard acceleration

I'd start with the fuel filter, make sure its the correct one and has been recently changed. An acceleration problem would lead me to check the fuel pressure regulator. Weak springs won't make it skip, but you would have a noticable power loss and probably some smoke out the exhaust. If the fuel pressure is good, check your injectors, they could be dirty or bad.

Re: 94 2.3L still misses at hard acceleration

Thank you for your reply. I have checked the fuel filter!! I thought it was ok. I mean it didn't appear to have lots of discolored fuel or any apparent water coming from it. It only misses during sudden hard accelereation after it has warmed up. Maybe the fuel pump is crapping out a little at a time.

Have both icm's tested, its possible you got a bad one when you replaced it, and its something most parts stores can do for you. Do you have a sohc or dohc motor?

Re: 94 2.3L still misses at hard acceleration

Hey there guys. Just found the problem. It was the coil pack cover. Just spent 43.00 dollars for the part and now the missing problem is gone. It don't spin the tires but it don't miss no more. And the timing chain and gears that I replaced after all this started has made the whole engine perform better. Just wanted to say thank yall for the info and help.
