slow shifting
I have a 96 jeep cherokee sport 4.0 litre HO automatic and it has a 3.5 inch lift on it and i am now finally getting into fixing a few things on it and first up is the slow shifting that it has. If i put it into 3 then it does alright till i get to higher speeds. In drive it is slow shifting from 2 to 3 and it boggs down quite a bit. I am wondering about anyones thoughts on this.

Re: slow shifting
Change the fluid. Do a flush if you can ...it will cost you about 12-13 quarts of fluid.
Make sure you use Dexron III/Mercon fluid..not synthetic. To go further...take the pan off and change or clean the fliter/screen. |

Re: slow shifting
Do you have larger tires on it? If you left the gear ratios stock then that's likely the reason it's bogging.

Re: slow shifting
Hey..Fred might be right...I didn't read your post carefully.
Most people that use 32s and 33s on their rigs drive around in 3rd gear if they didn't re-gear the axles. Last edited by AlohaBra; 12-13-2006 at 09:20 PM. |
