Engine Problem

i was racing with one of my buddies and i was shifting at 5,000 RPM's and all the sudden it smells like burn, so i checked it but i have no idea wats wrong.. but thats not it, first of all, my intake does not sound loud any more, it sucks and it accelerates slow, and last of all it overheats when i ram it, when its parked..?

can any one tell me wats up..!

Re: Engine Problem

yeah its only running on water so im ganna empty it and cool coolant on it, and its also weird cause it overheats when im going like 10-20 mph but when im 60+ it goes back down..

Re: Engine Problem

...that is most likely your problem right there.

Water starts to boil at 212 F. The computer waits until 218 to kick on the fan. If you think about it...the water starts boiling before the car tries to cool itself with a fan. You shouldn't be driving, let alone racing, when you are running strictly water...you can really fuck up a car that way.

The reason your car overheats more at 10-20 mph rather than 60 is because cooler air is hitting the radiator at a higher rate at 60, thus creating more of a cooling effect on the coolant (water in your case...tsk tsk) to prevent boiling/overheating. it is vital for an engine to be kept cool...

To put this in to some more perspective...O2 sensors need temps to be above 600F for them to read properly...which means the temperatures can get much hotter than that (granted it is for the exhaust...but guess where the hottest part of the exhaust is? you guessed it...in the engine bay) /RANT

Re: Engine Problem

you want a 50/50 mix -ideal- but it could be as much as i think 70/30 antifreeze...either way...never strictly water. just take care of it asap
