Starting problem

2000, 3.5L, ~130,000mi
I went to start my car friday afternoon and got nothing. No turning over, no sign battery was dead. Car had power to lights, radio, dash etc., but wouldnt turn over, almost like if you were to try and start it in gear. Checked connections, OK. After letting it sit for about 10 minutes tried again and it started right up. No problems since. New bat and alt in august. Any ideas? I dont want to have it not start and be stranded.

Re: Starting problem

Had the same thing happen once, about 2 months ago, never had it happen before or after. It's most likely the security sensor in the ignition failing (passkey). You should have seen a blinking security light when you let go of the key from the start position. In time, I'm sure the sensor will need replaced.

Re: Starting problem

Yeah when the key was in the ON position the security was flashing and I believe the SES light was on too. Thanks, I'll keep this in mind for the future.
