WIP:DW'S '82 Mountain Dew Buick Regal

This is one of the many projects I've been messing with lately. Going to be built along the same lines as my Marcis car, although not as fast. So far the chassis is under way. I decided to build this one a bit different. I wanted to see if I could keep the roll cage separate during assembly, and hopefully be able to work in the interior a bit easier. So far so good......

Re: WIP:DW'S '82 Mountain Dew Buick Regal

As much as I hated doing it, the chassis is now black. My hope would be that the black may actually not be that bad, and actually help highlight some of the details. So far it's working.

Both halves were shot with Krylon black. I started adding a bit of padding to the roll bars, and began detailing the main chassis. I turned a new fire bottle from aluminum and brass, and mounted it to a stand made from embossing metal. A few oil lines were added, and I added the main fuel line through the interior based on the pics I have. All braid and fittings is from Pro-Tech. I made a drivers matt for 'ol DW so his feet didn't get too hot from several pieces of masking tape layered together.

In the trunk area, I turned a new oil tank and cap, and started routing some of the oil lines.

Amazing, very clean procedures. The mat and rollbar padding is nicely done. The turned parts are fantastic. This is clearly going to be something special when its done. Looking forward to more of this project.

Woah,

seriously impressive work, those turned parts really help to bring this to another level. Although not my bag in terms of subject matter - it still doesnt hide the quality of work, beautiful job.

keep em coming mate

Sean

Awesome! The sort of detailing I love to see in a model! Great work on the braiding and the roll cage!
Can't wait to see it finished! Any pics of the real car?

Re: WIP:DW'S '82 Mountain Dew Buick Regal

Not much to report, but I did get a shot of the tires and wheels while messing with my new camera. I sanded and sanded the kit wheels until the backs opened up. Then the centers were drilled out along with the five lug holes. The green is HoK Sherwood green. I plan to paint all the green areas of the body with this color as well. Goodyears decals are from Powerslide, and then I gave them Dave's wash followed by a shot of Testors dullcoat.

Re: WIP:DW'S '82 Mountain Dew Buick Regal

The wheels look amazing. I thought you had used a stencil so this is even more impressive. You just gave me new hope for my wheels. I'm really looking forward to the body, but no rush! Fantastic work here.

Re: WIP:DW'S '82 Mountain Dew Buick Regal

All of their braided line is in 1/25th. Is this model also, or is it a 1/24th? Does the size not matter if it is 1/24th?
