tachometer not working... any suggestions?
I just bought a 1983 civic 1300 hatch and the tach doesnt work. i was told that it was cable driven but havent located a cable for it. Is this info incorrect? anyone have any suggestions?

Re: tachometer not working... any suggestions?
yep, cable driven. at least the 1.5's were. if it is cable driven the cable will come off the left end of the head, there is an end housing for the cam and the cable attaches there.

Re: tachometer not working... any suggestions?
i do have one. not so sure i want to let go of it tho. have a look around some wreckers first and get back to me. the cable tach was only on the civic, not the accord or prelude. my old wagon didn't come with a tach, i had a little electronic one in there and then later picked up a cable and tach dash unit. comparing them against each other the cable tach was about 750 rpm lower and i was inclined to believe the electronic one.
