control arm
has anyone ever changed there upper control arm,,if so how did you do it?

I assuming you mean front upper control arm? there not hard to do.
Two bolts on the top and the one castle nut/cotter pin on the knuckle, just be carefull pulling them out and remember that they are different right and left sides..... good luck gunnmen01

ok,,i tried to change the upper ball joint connected to the control arm,,i couldnt get the top part off,,,in the diagram where its says 1 top plate,,,its like it has a cap that i can't get off,, how do i get that part off,,,??/ |

Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong but I am fairly sure the US spec 88 models had their ball joints welded to the upper control arms. Hence they cannot be removed. The 89,90,91 all had balljoints that can be removed.
So in your case you may have to swap your upper arms for 89-91 style ones, the geometry will be the same, just that you can remove the ball joint. HTH |

...as far as I know...all the 88-91 ball joints were welded in? I changed my upper arms like 5 times...its pretty simple, no more than an hour job once you get moving....
I bought shitty ass chassis tech arms with adjustable upper ball joints to help with some camber issues....those damn things didnt clear anything in my wheel well!! even after extensive dremeling
