Walter Propser...
They have some BADASS looking air cleaners... anyone know anything about them, like if they're worth the money?

Yeah I was on that the other day... was wondering if anyone had heard if their stuff is high quality, or just high dollar.

I know they're using a K&N element, so can they really be worth $600 - performance wise? |

Re: Walter Propser...
I don't even have to take a look,
$600.00 for a air cleaner!?! ![]() I think Earl's brussel sprout farts and the amount of methane released have done their damge. Either that or somebody was stripped you of the glory of beer ![]() Cheese steaks and whoopie Come to your senses man I don't even think NASA has the brass balls big enough to pass a bill for that much money on a air filter for the space shuttle.

I think it's more about bling than bang... Heck, I'd bet a homemade ram air / cold air intake setup would way outperform that thing. IMO, the last thing I want my engine sucking in (besides dirt) is hot air from the engine compartment. |

Re: Walter Propser...
Well, DYLAN
, where I was going with this is... now that I can friggin weld... I might just make one of the damned things, but if the whole aluminum tube and K&N deal is no better (or worse even) than a regular old air cleaner, then I might just put a damned K&N cone filter right on the damned carb.

Re: Walter Propser...
I'd get a good ol chrome swap meet open sided filter housing and buy a K&N filter and be out wht 20, 30 bucks?

Re: Walter Propser...
Had one of those... didn't like it. Got a Pro-Flo... like it, but would like something a little nicer looking, AND the foam is all burnt up from a choke issue that made it backfire through the carb. not that the foam is expensive to replace, but, if I'm pulling RD's heart out to redo it, I thought maybe I'd make it look better while I'm at it.

Jim, it's a 454 it's function, not fashion. Sure a little chrome here and there, no problem, but if your gonna be spending major dough on a air cleaner like that, you might as well reinvest the money in opening a manicure spa for hogs.

Re: Walter Propser...
Dylan... you've got it backwards buddy... It's ALL about fashion at this point... nothing functions. lmao.
Seriously though. I think I can pick up some aluminum tubes and aluminum sheets for less than $100, the filter(s) would run like $20 a piece. I was thinking for about $140 I could make a knock off, but route the intakes lower so they're not pulling hot air... sort of a CAI. Call it a cooler air intake. If the flow characteristics are best on something like a Pro-Flo, I'll leave the damned thing on there. I just figured, since I'm going to make a new dash and console, why not make an air cleaner that has similar designs, etc especially if I can do it for a reasonable cost? Only caveat... if it's gonna have shitty flow characteristics I'll keep what I have. |
