Finished the Remote Starter Install....but blower doesn't work!!
I finished the installation, but when the van is remotely started (with the key out of the ignition..... ) the heater blower does not function.
If I put the keys in, and turn forward, the blower works. I followed the link supplied in a previous thread, but I am wondering if I need to attach the accessory wire to the 2 blower accessory wires individually or something. I think that I am not connected to the Grey/Yellow as listed. I swear what I have the acc connected to was 12V when in the turned back postion though..... Any ideas? |

Re: Finished the Remote Starter Install....but blower doesn't work!!
While I can't address the specifics of this situation, I've run into problems like this on other projects.
Time to back up, carefully review the original installation directions and schematic - and then draw up a diagram of exactly what you did. And then *manually* verify that every wire's signal does what you expect in each situation (off/remote start/manual start/etc.) with a voltmeter. If all goes well, eventually you'll look at something and go "Hmmm - that's not what I expected", and the mental light bulb will flash with "I know what happened". Best wishes tracking it down - and let us know what you find.

Yes, you need to double check the accessory wire(s). Many newer cars have 2 or even 3 accessory wires these days.
What kind of car was it?

Re: Finished the Remote Starter Install....but blower doesn't work!!
I installed a remote start on my 98 and had a similar issue. Moved the accessory feed (from starter) to the other accessory wire on the keyswitch and fixed it.
I had seen the two wires on the schematic and knew I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right, but figured trial&error was easier than tracing it out. To anyone interested in installing a remote start: the windstar is the easiest vehicle I've ever installed one on. (done about 10 so far) Lots of room under dash and very easy access. Guess I should say that I don't have any security features on my 98. |

On certain cars, if you don't hook up BOTH ignition wires, you fry the tranny. If you don't hook up both accesory wires, you'll cause the computer to throw codes.
