99 Bravada, binds up and hard to turn

When making sharp turns into or out of a parking spot, driveway. etc it gets hard to turn and the drivetrain is binding up really bad. Just like if I had my blazer in 4 wheel drive and did the same manuvers. There is no chattering or anything like that. Just feels like the clutches in the T-case arent slipping. Any ideas?

Re: 99 Bravada, binds up and hard to turn

find a dirt field or an icey, snow covered parking lot. something with a low traction factor and try it there to see if you can duplicate or worsen the problem. if not you may just have a bad power steering pump or a bad CV joint.

so what did it turn out to be when you had a simular problem on the blazer?

Re: 99 Bravada, binds up and hard to turn

Change the transfer case fluid as it requires the blue GM AutoTrak fluid thats syn and about $7/qt - takes 2 - a bulletin on this that says clutch chatter etc so change, drive 100 miles and change again - thats 4 qts total. Could of course be the front CV joints so jack up under the lower control arm and spin the tire/wheel and see if binding/poping on either side.
