Hi All,
I got a used 02 Si and it already screams at 80 mph. Is this a problem? It was lowered before I bought it, without me knowing. The dealer didn't tell me. Could the previous owner have raced this puppy and damaged the engine? Thanks for your inputs. Moonrocks..... |

Re: 2002 Si Screams at 80 mph.
Screams? Like "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH"? Did you know there are more gears after 1?

Intake, have you looked under the hood?

Better description of the sound and when it appears might help

It seems to rev a lot at 80 mph.
I think the tach is at 4000 rpm. If it already revs this much at 80mph, could it actually go to 100 mph and beyond? |

Re: 2002 Si Screams at 80 mph.
Well, redline is about 7000, which translates into something like 140 mph...

Thanks Misha.
I have one more question. When I turn my wheels, I can hear a spring like sound on the front suspension. What could this mean? Thanks in advance. |

Re: 2002 Si Screams at 80 mph.
Thats normal man, its the way the gears are on this car. At 60mph on 5th my revs are around 2.5-3k.
Oh yea, on some Civic Si's that clunking from your suspension is known as bumpsteer. The steering arm is moving a little out of its arc when you're steering. Its not serious, just annoying. I think there might be a Service Bulletin for that, so look it up. Its also only becomes really prominent if your civic has been lowered tho. |

Thanks Freelunch.
This car was lowered by the previous owner. But the dealer didn't tell me when they sold me the car. They claimed they didn't know. I thought that's how the car came originally. Moonrocks. |
