Overheating

So the blazer decided to overheat today........ When I was stuck in traffic it climbed to like 230 degrees, but once i got moving it immediately dropped back down to 170ish....... Im thinking maybe the thermostat, but what is yalls guess?

could be lots of things, first thing I would do personally is flush the coolant out and replace it, and replace the thermostat and radiator cap.

I'm thinking that there is either inadequate coolant flow or inadequate air flow at low RPM.

Kinda a silly idea but is your Fan cluch assembly on? I have seen a new Ford that it had come off and she was complaining of it being hot. lol

Got a quick question what is the normal operating Temp on a 1996 Blazer mines at like the first quater mark.

I had the same symptoms. Come to find out it was a crack in my rad. It didn't leak either.

Tell me about it. I've replaced cooler lines flushed the rad and replaced the cap along with the tstat and finally I gave up and sent it in and chevy told me i had a crack in my rad so they replaced it under warrenty.

alright thanks guys........ flushed out the fluid and put new coolant in plus i got all the air bubbles out of the system and now she runs like a champ
