Ouch...dude!
That happened to my dad one time and boy was he pissed. He called up there and raised all living hell.Maybe you should do that too.And perhaps you need a beer and a smoke to calm your nerves of the shock.

Re: Cell Phone Bill

I didn't have to raise hell... I called and calm as possible, explained that they messed up... now the account is "under investigation"... they said they will fix it... if not, then I'll raise hell...

Re: Cell Phone Bill

Wow that sucks real bad. They should be able to fix it. Or if worst comes to worst just dont pay it and get a new cell phone company.

Re: Cell Phone Bill

OMG, and you know it costed them no wheres near that much to do the data transfer. I don't even have a cell phone because I don't want to deal with the bullshit phone bills, I've heard of people getting some crazy high bills. And you know that cell phone companys are making billions each year, you'd think they could afford to lower there prices a pinch.

Why would they? They know that despite their prices, the public will still pay it. Just like the rising prices on gas. People will still pay the high prices and still drive the same amount of mileage.

As for me the highest bill I ever got was just above $867.00. And that was my fault and I had to pay...OUCH!

Re: Cell Phone Bill

That's not true. Cell phone companies don't make as much as you think. Yeah, it's high, but the company doesn't start making money off of you until month 23 of a 2 year contract. If you get a one year, we dont make anything.

And yes, people will pay. They bitch and raise all hell but nowadays people can't be without a cell phone. Just had a customer complain and still get a five line family plan.

I work for Cingular Wireless in a corporate store and know all the ups and downs with telecommunications. Seen it all. Seen all the behind the scenes too. It's massively expensive behind the scenes. Just to keep the network up and running and keep the wheels turning.

One of my customers had a $2,500 phone bill due to a bill error. All you have to do is call customer service (611 or *611) and explain to them what the deal is. Don't do into a store and raise all hell. It's not going to get you anywhere. Customer service will put it under review and credit where neccesary. Another one of my customers just had a $13,000+ credit put on the account. Her husband just kept paying and didn't pay attention to what he was paying. She called and they did that. She now doesn't have to pay her bill for about 2 years now. Lucky.

Re: Cell Phone Bill

yeah, the even crazier thing is... the feature (unlimited data transfer) worked or came into effect for half the month... the 180Mb that was transferred was only 1/3 of the months total... I had another 365MB of transfers, but for some reason the feature worked... so, had it not, I woulda had a $5k+ bill...

That's crazy... but it's the company's fault, it shows on my account that the feature was supposed to be enabled... but it just didn't do something right on the new phone... so I have no doubt that it will be credited...

I haven't listed the phone company's name for a reason, but that's to keep them from getting a bad rap... If they don't resolve it, you can bet I'll drop the company and give some bad press...

Re: Cell Phone Bill

And even if it doesnt cost them that much to do that shit, if they lowered it everyone would be doing it and they wouldnt be able to handle it, then everyone would be pissing and moaning about their shit not going through. The question remains though, what the fuck did you need to transfer that would ring up a $1720 file transfer charge? Correct me if my math is off, but $1720 / $.01 per kilobyte leaves you with 172,000 kilobytes transferred. So isnt that 172 gigabytes of transfer? What are you transferring from?

180,000KB = 175.78MB

Not Gigs. On internet and stuff, I can get that easily. On my company phone I have Cingular Video (broadband video streaming) and XM radio installed which I constantly use. Both of these constantly stream data to the phone. Plus with my internet usage on it too. I love having a totally paid for phone. lol.

Re: Cell Phone Bill

Wow. Those are some horror stories. I thought my $750 was bad enough! (apparently, I didnt realize that the US Virgin Isands were not considered part of the US as far as Verizon goes, lol)

Ahhhh, I see now. Thanks for the correction, and I can see 175mb, but when I thought it was 175 gb I was like damn son what the fuck?
