Any diecast experts know more about these GPM 1/43rds?

These all seem to be new on the market - the base says they are made by GPM which isn't a name I am familiar with. Anyone have any additional information beyond what you see in the auction descriptions?

The description for the Ueno Clinic LeMans winner says that they are based on Minichamps models. They certainly look better than the new stuff coming from Ixo / Parma but, then again, they are 3 times the price.

PS: there are 4 used carbon brake discs off #24R and a copy of the Michael Cotton book also currently on Ebay.

I have seen the book, but not the brake discs, can you add the link?

Oh, come on now, live a little! Think of all of the practical things you could do with it... errr, ummm, oh, nevermind!
At least a wheel nut makes a nice paperweight!

I agree.

The brake discs have been listed before.. at the same price. He didn't sell them before at that price, why does he think he can sell them now at that price? I paid less for all four. You can make a nice clock with them... or source some rotor hats and make a nice collage on the wall... or use them for actual rotors behind the GTR wheels you can purchase.

[quote=Noddy]The description for the Ueno Clinic LeMans winner says that they are based on Minichamps models. They certainly look better than the new stuff coming from Ixo / Parma but, then again, they are 3 times the price.

The word "Umbau" is German for conversion/alteration/rebuild or reconstruction; hence these are decal-conversions of diecast models, using waterslide decal sheets to convert previously-isued Minichamps or Ixo models into bespoke Umbau models.

Their value is only what a collector is prepared to offer, since the quality varies according to the skill of the modelmaker and also the nature and quality of the finished conversion.

Some models are highly sought-after, due to their tobacco-based sponsors' livery; others are just fantasy models made at the whim of the converter !

The last two models listed clearly use the same decal sheets as the AB handbuilt series !
