LT1 intake modified to use a distributor?

I am currently doing an engine swap in a 83 camaro and am going with EFI. I have read of LT1 intakes being modified to use a distributor, and I am wondering if any one on AF may know how to do this?

Isn't it true that you can't modify the LT1 in an f-car to use a distributor because of firewall clearance? I don't remember where I heard that...
(But I realize that his isn't going into an LT1-f-car)

Shipping .................................................. .............................

A complete intake is in the $20 to $30 range and about 22 lbs
A thermostat housing is in the $6 to $10 range and 2 lbs
Use zip code 93308 for calculating shipping costs.

guess not

Its obviously been done on F-bodys but the answer to your question varies too much for me to answer this one. It would be like asking someone if they had to modify there drive side header so it wouldn't interfere with there steering linkage. Half will say yes, half will say no but just from a eye ball view of the firewall in my car. I would think a little cutting was in order.

93308, I think thats Bakersfield, Cali. I use to live there when I was a kid. That place sucks. Hot, dry desert climate. They do have some nice shops tho.
