heat!!

1998 plymouth neon 2.0 dohc, when the temp gauge says the car is at a warm temp, in the middle of the gauge, the car blows cold air. it will do this for about 5 minutes then it will go hot, then about 5 more minutes it goes cold any info????
i need heat im in minnesota!!

If the coolant level was low wouldn't the car over heat in 10 degree weather??

Not necessarily, If the coolant level is low, there may not be enough coolant to circulate and you will have air going through the heater core and then a few minutes later you will have coolant circulating through the core.
Ten degree weather will cool coolant in the radiator pretty quickly.
