Radio Ground Static and Noise - 99 Venture
Hello,
I have a 99 Venture I purchased in 2004. As time has passed, the radio reception, particularly AM reception, is getting worse. Now, there's a high squeal near some power lines, cable lines, etc. Going under overpasses or other overhangs creates very loud noise to the point I have to turn the radio off. The 99 Venture has the antenna in the windshield. I'm not sure if there are wires and contacts I can clean and tighten. I have another car which has no problem with reception under the same circumstances. Can someone help me figure out what the problem may be? Especially since it seems to have gotten worse, and is not just a matter of design. Bad grounding? Thanks. |

Re: Radio Ground Static and Noise - 99 Venture
Could be bad grounding, or just a loose connection between the radio and the antenna.
What I would do is find ALL the connections between the radio and the windshield antenna and check them out. There could be an extension cable in there somewhere too. I believe the cable comes out the back of the radio and then over to the passenger side of the windshield, and then up. But I could be wrong. If you have access to another antenna (external type), you could plug that in place of the other one and give it a test. Take Care,
