New Turbo Kit on my Integra-First two races

Hi, I'm new here, but I found this place after looking for somewhere to post my new "kill story". First off, I have a 95 integra LS in pretty good looking condition and some rims. I bought it a couple of months back, and it seems that quite often, even though I was stock people tried to race me, and I'm thinking it was because of the rims. At first it only kinda bothered me, but then it got a little old. Sometimes I tried to keep up a little, but always kinda just shut it down before I really got into the high RPMs just so I wouldn't embarass myself. Not much a completely stock integra LS can do against a SRT-4 and Talons and such.

Anyhow, I started looking for things I could do to my car to make it faster and I will tell you I was dismayed at the fact that there was almost nothing I could do to make it quick that got me good bang for the buck if I stayed NA. I started looking at Turbo chargers and was put off at the extremely high price tag, and then install fees, since I'm not a mechanic and don't want to mess anything up doing it myself. As luck would have it though, I came into a bit of money, and sold a few things, and found a good kit at a good price. I bought it,and was able to have a friend of a friend install it for way lower than what a shop was going to do it for. WOW, what a difference, and I'm only at 7psi!

My first story was the 2nd night with the kit. I was on my way back home from a friends house at about 11:00 on 33 west in Columbus. It's usually pretty quiet out there and I pefer it to 70 E to get back to where I live. Well I came off the 270 exit ramp to get onto 33 and I end up passing an eclipse while trying to get into the far left lane. Well he takes this as me trying to race him and rockets past me and I see the GST badge, and then slows it down and gets even with me, and then rockets foward again, and brings it back. I think "sweet" now I'll get to see if this was worth it! As soon as he gets back with me I hit the Clutch and rev me engine to let him know I'm game. We were going about 55 mph and I dropped into third waiting for him to take off again. As soon as he takes off , I dropped it and took off! He had about half a car length at first, then I shiffted and started pulling on him in 4th. By the end of fourth, I had him by about a car when I stopped racing and brought it down so I could hit my exit I don't know how fast I got up to since I was watching the road, but when I started slowing down and looked I was close to 90. That was fun!

The second was the next day, against a WRX on the same road, just going East towards lancaster. This time it was from a stop. We were stopped at a light, and niether one of us I don't think was really thinking about racing. when the light turned green, we both took off normaly, but I was staying nose to nose with him. I don't think he liked that so he gunned it and took off, and I did the same. He had about a car length on me up to about 90 or so and then I really started closing that gap at about 100 and was about half a car lenght by about 125 when he shut it down. I think if we were just racing a 1/4 mile he would have deffinatly won though, but fun none the less. He probably would have had a bigger margin up to 90 or so if he knew we were going to race and did the whole AWD launch.

That was two weeks ago. Nobodys tried to race me again since, which is a good thing, I don't need a ticket! Boost is addictive! I know I want to eventually either do LS/VTEC or maybe just have the motor built to handle more boost. Anyways, Just wanted to post my storys. Later.

Re: New Turbo Kit on my Integra-First two races

Good story. I love boost as well. I have yet to post any of my stories in AF, but racing on the streets is fun and i do it from time to time, but i dont condone it because accidents CAN happen.

I'm curious to see some pics and maybe a breakdown of your setup. By the sound of it, you're pushing about 215-220whp which is a fun range because its not ridiculous yet. My first setup netted 275whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno which reads low, but that just hooked me on turbo setups. I had my first setup for less than 6 months before getting a completely new setup and this winter i'm building the engine.

It is addictive, but at the same time, it is constructive and fun. Good luck in the future and i can't wait for a few pics!

yeah, I'll try to get some pics up soon. I'm outta town with my folks down in Alabama for the next couple of weeks (it's cool, but kinda sucks since I wanna drive) but when I get back I'll post some pics. I really want to get it lowered after xmas. Hopefully I'll have some cash.

Re: New Turbo Kit on my Integra-First two races

about the second race, that's how i race an integra i lost to lol. we were at the light, it turned green, we both started going normally, i was going a little faster than him, he starts accelerating faster, i go faster, he punches it, i punch it, and we're off. i'm ahead from the start, and i keep my lead through half of second, then he gets in front of me, shift into third, and he just walks away. in my defence i had a passenger in the car so that dropped a good 4 seconds off of my 0-60 time hahaha. oh well, i wasn't expecting a '92 accord to be able to do anything to a car with 40 more horsepower (maybe more, he had some exhaust mods, maybe other stuff but i wasn't paying attention, mostly talking to my passenger and laughing at how badly i got my ass kicked) and alot less weight.

good kills though, i can't wait to have enough money to make my car go fast, got some big plans but no green to do it.
