battery drain

i got an 85 with the 305 engine and i am having to charge my battery every other day. the alternator is testing fine off the car. the battery is brand new. two days old. have been having this problem and figured i just needed a new battery. the wire clip from the alternator is in good condition. what would cause the battery not to charge? what am i missing?

Re: battery drain

Sounds like a load is draining your battery when the car is not running. Since you said the battery is two days old, I would think the battery would charge just fine, but something is draining it down when the alternator is not runnning (engine off). When you say the alternator is testing fine, what did you do to test it? If the alternator is not putting out sufficient power, the car might be running on the alternator AND draining the battery.
