Mushy brakes

My brake pedal feels kinda mushy. I have replased the pads and rotors and also blead the whole system.. I got the truck a year ago and it been like this since i got it. I just never really noticed because i drive it every day. I let my buddy drive it and he told my feel really bad. Any ideas?? The only thing i can think is a bad master cylinder but i dont want to buy one unless i need it..

thanks

Re: Mushy brakes

What year and model is your truck?

The Chevy 1500 series trucks has always had a mushy break system. When you get into the 2500 and 3500 series, they get better.

What happens when you slam on the breaks? Do you feel the anti lock kick in?

Its a 99 silverado z71.. Ya the anti lock will kick in but the brakes just seem shitty.

Re: Mushy brakes

Is the rear drum or disk? On my 90 K1500, the self adjuster do not cut it and I have to adjust them by hand every tire rotation. Otherwise, the pedal does get mushy.

Re: Mushy brakes

they are all wheel disk brakes..
yea.. most people who drive ford or dodges, then drive a chevy typically will notice the mushiness in the brakes.. do not worry. there is nothing wrong with them, just the way Chevy designed them.
