Trouble codes for 1995 Lesabre

This morning was a cold morning, just below freezing, and when I started my 1995 Buick Lesabre it started up immediately. But when I put it into gear it started to skip like it was running on one or two cylinders. I put it back into park and it would run and rev up like nothing was wrong. This went on for a while and I guess until it warmed up a bit and then it ran ok the rest of the day. The check engine light came on. I went to Auto Zone but their checker was for OBD II and my Buick is an OBD I. So they could not check it. Is there a way to check this without having to make a trip to a Buick dealership?
I remember on the older cars you could short out certain pins on the plug and get a flashing dash light that would indicate the proper code. Is this possible with this car? The connector looks exactly like the OBD II but the label under the hood says OBD I. I read on the internet that some of the later '95's had a connector that looked like a OBD II but was really OBD I. Mine has connectors in holes 4, 5, 9, 11 and 16.
By the way, this is the first time this has happened and I bought the car new.
Thanks in advance.
Landon

I use a Matco Tools 9640B professional enhanced scan tool on the 94-95. It has the 16 pin OBD11 connector and reads the OBD1 codes. It is actually a KAL, or Actron manufactured unit. It is fully compatible with all OBD11 cars also. Actron has a cheaper unit CP9150 that will work also. You might try Advanced Auto Parts. They sell Actron scanners and usually use the 9640B to test customer cars. 9640B Professional Enhanced Scan Tool

I may have the 9,11 and 16 pins reversed. Looking at it with a mirror may have it backwards. If so it would be 9, 14 and 16. The top 4 and 5 is correct.
