Why are some taller/shorter?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but Im a suv virgin. I noticed when sometimes Im parked near another blazer, that some sit lower to the ground than mine.
There is one that looks exactly like mine in the neighborhood, though it may be a different year and it definately sits lower, I pass right next to it all the time.

Ok...let the pointing and laughing begin.

Re: Why are some taller/shorter?

MAybe they are 2wd. different tire size. You vantage point makes some look taller and some look shorter, too.

Re: Why are some taller/shorter?

It is possible to raise or lower a vehicle by changing out components, though with an suv raising is more common. This can be done by lifting just the body, essentially placing larger spacers between the frame and body, or (more properly?) by raising the suspension. Stock blazers will either be 'normal', or with the ZR2 option, which I believe is a 2" lift, but only available on the 2-door.

I've also noticed that in general the 98+ seem to sit lower and with a wider wheel base...maybe someone else can substantiate this?

Or they just carry more weight around....

Re: Why are some taller/shorter?

between my 97 4dr 4x4 (when it was stock height) and my sisters 99 4dr 4x4, i feel higher in the 97, side by side the 97 looks ever soo slighty higher, but it also could be the front end that could be tossing the eyes off. but when ur in the car, the 97 you seem like ur sitting a little higher compared to the 99. Anything could probly change the slightness in height, from drivers weight to the amount of people that are in and out of the car. My sister always is the DD on the weekends and her car is always pack of intoxiated people and i always have my rear seat down( im not the kind who likes to always be the ride) im sure that could make the suspension sag more than mine over time

Re: Why are some taller/shorter?

I'd imagine all of the 2wd trucks are shorter than the 4wd one's, simply by tire size if not ride height.

I know my truck came stock with 235/70R15 tires, which are really small. Even the 235/75R15's BFG A/T's I have on it now are a big improvement.

Re: Why are some taller/shorter?

Dont feel bad mine are 215/75/15 stock. And yes the 2wd s10 are lower, i lowered my 4x4 2" front and back and it sits just a little bit lower than a stock 2wd truck. Go to a truck show you will see some really low static drop trucks.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: Why are some taller/shorter?

Some may have cranked their torsion bars or others may have different tires then the 235/70 that came stock on my Jimmy. I put 31s on my truck and I am a lot bigger then other blazers and jimmys around.
