2000 Century Thermostat

Where did they hide the thermostat on the 2000 Century's? I cannot find it as shown in my Chilton's manual.

How big of a job is it to replace the thermostat?
Thanks,

Re: 2000 Century Thermostat

Just follow the upper radiator hose to where it terminates at the lower intake manifold below the throttle body. You'll see the thermostat housing. PITA to replace.

Re: 2000 Century Thermostat

Is it neccessary to remove the heat sheild and exhaust crossover pipe to replace the thermostat, or can it be done with these in place? Also is there a gasket that needs to be replaced?

Thanks,

Re: 2000 Century Thermostat

It depends on the size of your hand and arms whether you will need to remove the heat shield and exhaust crossover pipe. Using the right sized tools helps too. As a minimum removing the heat shield may help. The thermostat housing bolts are not that long. Some people even remove the throttle body but that is up to you. There should be an o-ring seal. Good luck.
