my alero for some reason after I changed my cold air intake back to my stock airbox (due to 30 degrees less temperatures down from 60-70 in 30-40s) keeps reading in the middle. I have changed thermostat drained whole coolant system and put in new coolant back in. i have all the maintence done on time. the car will read the same temperature as it would as if i were sitting in traffic (really hot mid to a little above middle). when I first got it was reading about 1/3 mark almost always which was 2 years ago. any and all help will be appreciated.

Re: 01 v6 alero temperature problems
Your temperature reading does not sound out of the norm. A reading in the middle of the gauge is not actually hot per se. During the winter when not using the A/C the temp will be higher at idle, etc. because the cooling fans are not turning on. Without A/C on they do not turn on until 220 - 230 degrees in low speed. Turn the A/C on or put it in defrost mode and see what it does.
